Centre of Competence for the Licensing of Electronic Resources - Project details (KFL)
Development of a Centre of Competence for the Licensing of Electronic Resources – a cross-sectional task within the system of the DFG-funded ‘Specialised Information Services’
Within the KfL project, the Göttingen State and University Library and the other project partners act as central service providers for the system of DFG-funded ‘Specialised Information Services’ (FID) in terms of negotiation, licensing and supra-regional provision of digital media (FID licences). Its goal is to support the FID in the performance of its tasks. The development of suitable licensing and business models is as much a part of the task portfolio as the management of metadata and content data acquired with the licences. The services are continuously developed further and tailored to the requirements of each FID in direct contact with the FID. The ‘Competence Centre’ is located in Göttingen, Berlin and Munich.
The Göttingen State and University Library is carrying out the project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), together and in equal cooperation with the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (SBB) and the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (BSB). At the same time, the Göttingen State and University Library also takes on the coordinating role in the project. The project partners contribute independent, complementary tasks to the project. In addition, the Verbundzentrale des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbundes (VZG) (common library network) supports the project activities as a technical service provider.
