Digitization of Lower Saxony's universities: Funding for SUB Göttingen project

SUB Göttingen has received funding from the state of Lower Saxony totaling 800,000 euros for its project “Landesweite Lizenzierung und Open-Access-Transformation von E-Books” (Statewide Licensing and Open Access Transformation of E-Books). The project is one of seven funded collaborative projects of the initiative "Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen".

The project aims to significantly and sustainably expand the supply of scholarly monographs and textbooks in digital format (e-books) at Lower Saxony's universities through the statewide cooperative acquisition and provision of e-book licenses, using in particular innovative licensing models from the context of user-driven acquisition and open access transformation. The project is being implemented by the SUB Göttingen in coordination with the Niedersächsischer Beirat für Bibliotheksangelegenheiten (Lower Saxony Advisory Council for Library Affairs). It started on 1 January 2022 and will run for one year.

With the "Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen" initiative, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) is funding seven collaborative projects in Lower Saxony to support the digitization of studies and teaching at universities and to strengthen university didactics with new teaching and learning formats.

In addition to this project, the University of Göttingen is also being funded as part of the initiative with the project "Niedersächsischer Service für digitale Prüfungen (Digitaler Prüfungsservice)" (Lower Saxony Service for Digital Examinations, Digital Examination Service).
